Journal Writings

I picked up an old journal the other day and it made me laugh and cry (seriously). Here is a poem I wrote when I was 13 (I didn’t edit it)

Why when some people are put to a task they achieve?
and why are others who are put to a task simply leave?
An achiever has heart wants to be the best
A leaver is lazy just wants to rest
Are you an achiever or a leaver?

I found my journal entries a lot of fun and educational to read and I rededicated myself to the journal writing program. For me it works best to write something everyday, even if it is a sentence or two, I still write something on boring days so that when something important or substantial happens, I am already in the habit of writing something daily.

My journal writing has developed a pattern. One year I write a ton, the next year I might have 15 entries or so, then the next year I write a lot more…I need to be more consistent. ldsjournal.com is nice because it will send you out reminders when you’ve gone a while without writing, they also offer a service to publish you entries into a book form. I find the best way for me is a google doc that I can access anywhere. Periodically I put it in a word document that one day I’ll publish using lulu.com.

depends upon the activity whether I am an achiever or a leaver!
